Day 2 Torres del Paine O circuit on January 4th 2019. As I reflect on this are in the cue to check into our flight. (Chile 🇨🇱 has been wonderful!) Day 2 was a beautiful day not to hot, not to sunny, not to cold. There were a few small passes that we crested where the wind threatened to sweep us off the trail, however most of the day was spent in the valley along this river. (The color is real.) When we hit camp that same wind blew constantly. A few times we thought the tent would take flight with us in it. My knee was hurting a lot and I started to walk backwards on the down hill portions, slow going. It made me a little nervous given we still had many miles to go. Our two sons, about a third of the way through took my pack and hiked ahead. Taking off the weight made a big difference. I felt both guilty and loved—more loved than anything else. 💕 I went to bed with a full heart. Their theory was take care of it and don’t injure that day. One of our new hiking buddies suggested rolling my leg muscles on my water bottle at camp and dipping it in the river. I did both though I must say the river dip was totally icing it. Glacial melt to the rescue. It worked. I got my pack back and carried it the rest of the trek with no knee pain. #trekking#hikingwithferments#fermentedvegetables#patagonia#bucketlist#torresdelpaine#backpackingwithferments#backpacking#love

At a husky farm in Andøy, Norway. These cuties were getting prepared and chomping at the bit to pull a sleigh. I wish that huskies were still a real form of transport, it certainly would make commuting so much more fun !
