Private pasta workshop I spent a morning with 4 lovely ladies teaching them how to make pasta from scratch. I always prepare dough in advance but like to make sure a student gets the experience of getting their hands in the dough and making a fresh batch. There is no better way to learn than by doing it on your own, so you understand the feel of a properly made dough. I let students decide if they want to make it on a board by dumping eggs into a well of flour “Volcano style”, in a food processor or in a stand mixer. They chose the volcano, as one of the students did not have either a food processor or mixer. We delved into fresh herb laminated pasta using mint and sage, and created some cool colorful pasta textiles, all of which we then hand formed into garganelli, farfalle, and sorpresine. Of course we taste tested, and I believe it was eye opening to see the colors and shapes held. The ladies did a great job, and we had a lot of fun. Swipe left or see story for more pics. We know it's going to be a good day when we see John and Gretchen from @whistlepighollowmd! Look at all this sap they brought us! White buckets are Maple and red is black walnut. Syrups are in the works for our pig parts and pancakes brunch!
