ANOTHER THURSDAY RECOMMEND I know I already recommended 'Bandersnatch' this morning but that was primed for last week's edition. Duty however called and I couldn't get around to it, so this is me picking up the slack. It's also an inroad for me to share a small indie film that is quite precious to my movie library with y'all. 'The Land' is Steven Caple Jr's debut feature that in turn landed him 'Creed II'. Ryan Coogler saw it and ordained him his directorial successor for the franchise. And rightfully so because never have you held your breath and rooted for young teenage miscreants on skateboards so much, than with this urban drama. Rascally and fiendish as the pack of four friends sometimes come, they are sympathetic off of their relatability as youths. We've made dumb mistakes before and as such, you don't so much crucify these guys for theirs. But more compelling are their appalling living circumstances. One of them has to reside with his bum of a step-dad who tries boinking his prostitute girlfriend beside him on their thinning floor mattress. Life has dealt them such a bad hand, that you hope to God they make it out alive of these dangerous street waters as they pull all the stops to turn things around to a full house. Movie Title: THE LAND Premise: Teenage buddies Cisco, Junior, Boobie, and Patty Cake shrug off school to practice skateboarding, which they hope will be their ticket to a better life. In the meantime, they steal cars to finance their dream. But when they get mixed up in a drug deal and cross a ruthless crime queen-pin, they put their friendship and lives on the line. Sometimes you get in shape and sometimes The Shape gets you! Halloween forever!
My black and white photo that is on my previous post is something that I've wanted to do for alittle while now but I felt like I didn't have the proper tools to do so. 1) I don't have a actual photography camera yet 2) I have no lighting equipment 3) I have no studio set up 4) Not really experienced in photography, at least not where I want to be But in actuality I had just enough to achieve the look I was going for because: 1) I have a camera phone that actually takes good photos 2) My $5 lamp from Walmart is SUPER bright 3) Didn't really need a studio set up, just needed a white wall which I have in my apartment 4) I'm not a photography or camera expert but I know enough to what I wanted done Put all that together and you get the setup I created in the 1st photo, how it came out unedited in 2nd photo, and the what it looks like after I did some editing in the 3rd photo. Not perfect but not too shabby either if you ask me. Guess the moral of the story is never think you are limited because of what you lack or don't have, just learn how to ultilize what you have. #keeppushing
