Just today, my friend and I were discussing our reasons for keeping fit. I think a lot of people might get roped into doing it for the wrong reasons; to make someone else happy, to fit into a certain ideal, to be “skinny”. For us, it was something that we did for us and us alone. I have always been an active person, skiing and snowboarding, playing volleyball and since I was 18, I regularly went to the gym. I have always liked to keep busy and always did it for me. It wasn’t until I had my first child that I slowed down a bit and it took me a while to realize that I was much less happy when I wasn’t active. This when when I found BBG and at this stage in my life, my BMI had gone up so naturally, I wanted to trim down a bit to sit at my “healthy” mark. I would be lying if I said there wasn’t a particular “look” I was also aiming for, but it’s a healthy one and one that pleases me, no one else. I feel better mentally and physically when I keep fit and eat well and I love that my kids get to see their mum taking care of herself. And that brings me into answering the question that @balancing.fit posed this morning; “what is your why for getting up in the morning?” Absolutely, my children, my family. They are my reason for getting up in the morning and they are yet another reason I want to take the best care of myself that I can; lead a balanced and healthy life and hopefully encourage them to do the same. 🤗 On a side note, day 4 of the 12 week challenge and hot yoga was amazing! . . . #balancingfit2019#sweat12wc#bbg12weekchallenge#swk#bbgtransformation#bbgmums#bbgmoms#27weekspostpartum#postpartumbody#postpartumfitness#postpartumfitnessjourney#workingoutathome#strongnotskinny#progressnotperfection#bbg#bbgcommunity#cleaneating#kaylaitsines#kaylamovement#bbggirls#bbgmomsover30#sweatwithkayla#fitfam#selflove#fitnessjourney#bodyconfidence

I was busy in the kitchen again today. Yes I eat #keto and no not because everyone else is. I eat this way because it makes my insides feel much better and helps with symptoms I get if I eat other ways. First - beef and broccoli in slow cooker (serves 2) Second - pancake "cake" (serves 4) Third - peanut butter fat bombs (6 servings) Fourth - the dogs being quite concerned that I am in the kitchen. I pick my last day off work to cook a few meals to prepare me for my shift work, especially when my 16 hour day hits, I am not in a frame of mind to put meals together. Easy grab and go. #healthyfat#womaninuniform#fitfam#fitmind#mealprep#shiftwork#foodblogging
#flashbackfriday back to 2013! It’s always a trip looking back at old photos of myself... look at my hair 😂 & believe it or not I got even heavier in 2014 so this was not me at my heaviest but damn I’m amazed at the difference between then & now! It really proves that dedication & consistency will pay off. Always remember to #smile 😁
How to preserve muscle mass while cutting👇🏼 ——— When you gain wait you’ll gain muscle & fat and when you lose weight, you’ll lose muscle & fat. There’s no way around it but you can mitigate your muscle loss just as you can mitigate fat gain when bulking, here’s how: ——— 1️⃣ Aim to lose .5 - 1.5lbs/week, anything more is pretty aggressive and can result in significant muscle loss. 2️⃣ Consume 1.5g of protein per lb of Lean body mass. 3️⃣ Gradually increase your cardio and try to do more HITT than LISS (You continue to burn even more fat after performing HIIT) 4️⃣ properly re-feed your body when weight loss becomes stagnant before dropping calories more. (I’ll explain this more in a separate post, typically 1 re-feed per week) 5️⃣ Continue to lift heavy & hard - though strength may go down your workout intensity shouldn’t change! ——— Hope these tips help you! Drop any questions in the comments 👊🏼
Another successful leg day! My training partner didn’t get all of the reps in this set because he needed to drop the phone and go throw up 😏😂 I too felt like throwing up, and giving up at times...but in the back of my mind I envisioned myself up on that stage 18 weeks from now holding the gold, dug deep, and pushed even harder!
✨Truthful Thursday✨ ______ You ever let the stress of life just get to you??? ⬇️⬇️ ______ I have to be honest with you guys, lately I have been struggling. I found myself in a few situations where I felt like I took on WAY too much so naturally when I do this I tend to shut down but this time I just keep pushing through and pushing through without really reaching out or sharing with anyone because well in fear of being judged but than I realized the ones who judge me or who don’t like me are the ones who I don’t want to speak to or help anyways. I won’t help everyone. I’m not for everyone. People will judge me and I need to not worry about the opinions of sheep. My depression has been at a high so when this happens my social media interaction is low I tend to avoid social gatherings, and cancel plans and I’ve come to realize that THIS IS OKAY. It’s literally my mental health, and my sanity. So for those of you who are worried or struggling or pushing yourself to the MAX and having no down time to be alone and rest/ recover, stop worrying about what others think or feel WORRY ABOUT YOU, focus on YOU, self care is the most important thing. Another huge reminder try not to focus on how stressed you are and remember how BLESSED you are. I may struggle but I am extremely blessed to have the family, friends and followers that I do 🙏 _____ If you don’t take care of you and help you you cannot help others!!! Also please if you’re struggling reach out, it truly is okay to not be okay sometimes 💖 _____ • • • • • • • #truth#real#health#fitness#depression#anxiety#life#action#mindset#change#family#friends#support#blessed#arete#maxout#live#love#lift#gym#fitfam#talkaboutit#endthestigma#share#follow#love 💖🌿🌺👊🏼💥🤗😘😊🙏💜

This morning I woke-up with this laser beam focus. I have some goals that I hit everyday... THIS is one of them. And I’ll share it here now.... It is: to seduce my classes, my privates, my nutrition clients, my family, my friends, my lover, and everyone I encounter. Today I knew the way in was to bring the sunshine☀️☀️👯♀️. I had an acting teacher that said “to seduce” is to change someone’s mood. I always loved that, and have held it close. Everyday I practice this with all of myself. I pour all of myself in. Today I felt the shift in the room in an instant, in all the rooms I’ve been into. Tonight, my heart feels bright. Give it away🙌💋

Side ponytail - (n) the true marker of a good workout 🙃 . . Despite a dysFUNctional immune system thanks to UC and Humira, I beat a nasty cold in under a week. Now I’m back at it in the gym and am celebrating a healthy and sniffle free body with a nice moderate cardio sesh to ease me back into exercising 💦 . When your body is working against you, here’s what I recommend: - LOTS of sleep and rest - Take your vitamins, especially vitamins C, B, and D - Hydrate! Drink lemon water throughout the day - Skip the sugar, alcohol, and processed foods. You can live without it while your body is healing— I promise! . . Do you have any all natural cold remedies that work for you? Lemme know! ✌🏼

It’s all about consistency 🔥🔥 . A lot of people think results will happen over night and get discouraged after the first few weeks. truth is you ask anyone, they’ll tell you ITS A LOT OF WORK👊🏻 so to everyone who’s starting or wanting to start up again, don’t get discouraged it’ll come 🤙🏼🤙🏼
