One year, 365 days and one full turn around the sun. Being married to the man of my dreams! This last year of marriage has held so much growth, love and support. I count my blessings everyday to grow old next to such a man. He is selfless, kind, hardworking, loving, intuitive and strong. The absolute love of my life! Thank you for all you do and for being so patient with me @benjaminrbrenner. We have built quite the life for ourselves and I know the best has only just begun! I'd marry you again in a heartbeat my darling ❤ I had the most wonder day!
I’ve seen so many posts from beautiful women questioning their decision to let their silver shine because of negative reactions from friends, family, their hair stylists, and even strangers. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have those moments as well. It is hard when those we seek approval from question our choices. My fiends thought I was crazy, I almost had to break up with my stylist, and it really stung when I was mistaken for my daughter’s grandmother when I was only 40 years old. But I want to let you ladies now that it was 100% worth following my heart to embrace my natural gray. Ditching the dye brought so much personal freedom and joy. Those who thought I was crazy no longer do, I have a different stylist now who loves my hair as it is (and I know my former stylist back in NY would love it as well) and the strangers who might think I’m older than I am at first glance don’t matter. Who cares? They don’t know me. What matters is what I think and what feels right to me. Coloring for other people doesn’t make sense if you don’t want to do it anymore. Follow your heart- it knows what’s best.❤️ There are so many of us here to cheer you on. #grayhairtransition#grombre#gogray#embraceyourgrey
There is a great article in The @wsj by @rorysat on #grayhair. Could it be I’m possibly ahead of the trend?!? . . I get stopped by strangers (mostly women) ALL of the time asking how I did it, how long did it take, did I get highlights, is it my natural hair color, who colors my hair, why don’t I color my hair, how old am I, is it against my religion to color my hair, what does my husband think, and so much more. This is why I feel like such an ambassador for helping others with their silver transition or just aging gracefully in general. . . I very much dislike American beauty standards as my sense of style has always been a bit out of the box since I was a teen - teetering on Mexican Mama Earth one day to Sade chola-light the next with big hoops and bright red lipstick. I wear what I feel, not what’s on trend. So to see my silver streaks are the hottest color of the moment now is whatttt?!! Is this temporary or are we actually changing as a society? Anyhow, I’m so excited to see gray hair is finally being accepted as normal. It’s so weird actually. It’s hair. . . Follow @stylelikeu for inspiration. I love their page which highlights their own carefree style and the people they highlight. No one is on trend, unless being your authentic self is now trendy. . . #grayhairmovement#grayhairdontcare#iamwhatsunderneath#xicanastyle#xicanahair#nativehair#silverhair
